Is there a team in the Premier League that's on better form than Liverpool at the moment? Jurgen Klopp's shock announcement that he'd be leaving the club at the end of the season seems to have given the Reds extra impetus to give the boss the best possible send-off – and they're doing it without Mo Salah. The forward, who was injured on AFCON duty with Egypt, isn't expected to be back for this crucial match, but his teammates seem to be coping just fine in his absence.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have so far struggled to recreate the kind of performances that had them top of the league for so long last season – but they're still within touching distance of their table-topping visitors. Mikel Arteta's side beat Liverpool 3-2 at the Emirates last season, but lost their FA Cup meeting at Anfield last month 2-0. They'll be hoping to repeat the former, because the latter would put a huge dent in the Gunners' title hopes.

The Gunners need a big result if they’re to stand any chance of catching Jurgen Klopp’s side at the top of the division but head into it in good form after two consecutive victories.

Having beaten the Reds at the Emirates Stadium last season, the idea of a victory does not seem quite as outlandish as it may have done in years gone by.

Still, Liverpool have clearly improved since then and won on their last visit to the Emirates Stadium in the FA Cup last month.

It's third hosting first in the Premier League in the standout match of a thrilling weekend of action. A remarkable 26 goals were scored across five Saturday matches, and more goals should be on offer at the Emirates Stadium if the history of this fixture is anything to go by. The Gunners know a win today will see them cement themselves are serious title challengers, while a defeat could be catastrophic.

Mikel Arteta has some decisions to make with his team, especially given reports Gabriel Jesus could be missing through injury. Emile Smith Rowe will be pushing for another start, while Kai Havertz will be expecting to start. Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah once again and Darwin Nunez is an injury doubt. Young defender Conor Bradley looks like the next Trent Alexander-Arnold but surely the more experienced right-back gets the nod today.

It is all set to be an enthralling game between two of the best teams in the country. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Simon Collings and Dan Kilpatrick at the Emirates Stadium.

These two met in the FA Cup recently which saw the Reds advance as part of what could prove to be a glorious send-off for Klopp when he departs at the end of this season. There was also a 1-1 draw just before Christmas in the EPL so the two have faced off fairly recently and will know exactly how they want to approach this one. The Gunners are unbeaten in three league outings against the Reds and have six wins from their last seven in the Premier League at Emirates Stadium which they will aim to extend here in what will be a 200th topflight meeting between the two sides.

Thomas Partey could be in contention for a substitute role while Fabio Vieira and Jurrien Timber remain out injured. Takehiro Tomiyasu is still on AFC Asian Cup duty with Japan but Mohamed Elneny is back after Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations exit. Gabriel Jesus still has knee issues but should feature while Arteta has Emile Smith Rowe, Kai Havertz and Jorginho to pick between.

Conor Bradley rewarded Klopp for his decision to start the youngster over Trent Alexander-Arnold but the England international should return here. Wataru Endo is still on Asian Cup duty while Mohamed Salah, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are all injured. Klopp hopes to have Alexis Mac Allister back but Darwin Nunez could now be a doubt after taking a blow to the foot which could reopen the door to Cody Gakpo. Andrew Robertson could hope to replace Joe Gomez in the XI but otherwise Klopp should not tinker too heavily.

For that, after registering back-to-back victories against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, the Gunners will need to snap Liverpool's 15-game unbeaten run in the league.

At the same time, having beaten Chelsea 4-1 in the mid-week, Jurgen Klopp's men will look to open up an eight-point lead at the summit.

While Takehiro Tomiyasu is still away with Japan at the Asian Cup, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will not be able to call upon the services of neither Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira, and Jurrien Timber.

Mohamed Elneny is back after Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations exit, and Gabriel Jesus may start despite a niggle with his knee. There may be a shuffle in midfield after Emile Smith Rowe got a rare start in the Forest win on Tuesday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to be recalled at right-back at the expense of Conor Bradley's place in the XI.

The clash against Arsenal may be too soon for Thiago Alcantara, despite the midfielder impressing in shooting drills. Besides, Klopp also revealed Darwin Nunez as a doubt.

Wataru Endo is on international duty with Japan at the Asian Cup, while Mohamed Salah, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak and Joel Matip also remain unavailable for selection.

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is expected to shake off a knock to his knee in the Chelsea win, while Cody Gakpo should fill in for Nunez from the first whistle.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently trailing leaders Liverpool by five points and the hosts need a positive result in this match to avoid dropping out of the title race. Both sides warmed up for this clash with key midweek wins, as Arsenal edged past Nottingham Forest, and Liverpool sealed an impressive 4-1 Anfield victory over Chelsea.

Arteta's injury list has not changed ahead of this game and he could stick with the starting lineup with Emile Smith-Rowe preferred to Kai Havertz and Jorginho in midfield. Mohamed Elneny is available following AFCON 2024 duty, but Takehiro Tomiyasu is still away with Japan at the AFC Asian Cup.

Jurgen Klopp is still without Mohamed Salah through injury with Kostas Tsimikas another week away from a return. Darwin Nunez is also a doubt after coming out his all-action performance against Chelsea with a swollen foot.

However, the German coach must make key calls in both full back positions, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson both back fit and ready to challenge Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez. Liverpool have lost just once in Premier League action so far this season with Arsenal racking up four defeats ahead of this game. Klopp's charges have two domestic cup competitions to focus on with both sides returning to European action later this month.

Jurgen Klopp's team have scored four times in each of their last three league outings - most recently making light work of Chelsea at Anfield. They also beat Norwich City 5-2 in the FA Cup in their first match since manager Klopp confirmed this season would be his last in charge.

Arsenal, who lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup third round in early January, are also coming off successive wins. Their last home game brought a 5-0 demolition of Crystal Palace, and they clung on to beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in midweek.

The last time these two teams met, first-half goals from Gabriel and Mo Salah ensured the points were shared. A victory for either team in North London could be huge, though, while title challengers Manchester City will also be keeping a close eye on things before they face Brentford on Monday night.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey remains unavailable thanks to the hamstring trouble which has kept him sidelined since before the turn of the year. Jurrien Timber is still working his way back to fitness after ACL surgery, while Fabio Vieira has also been absent of late.

Mikel Arteta will need to make a decision on Mohamed Elneny, who is avaialble again after Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations exit last weekend, but Takehiro Tomiyasu's return will have to wait. Tomiyasu played for Japan on Saturday as they lost to Iran in the Asian Cup quarter-finals, ending the Samurai Blue's involvement in the tournament.
